A proper helmet is so important for skaters – especially skaters new to the ice! We always strongly suggest hockey helmets with a cage. Hockey helmets provide enough protection down the back, sides and front of the head, and the cage protects the face and teeth (chin and teeth injuries do happen!). Plus, hockey helmets are multi-impact, meaning they’re made to take multiple hits without cracking, whereas bicycle helmets are not. Ski helmets are also good, but don’t come with the cage.
Look for a HECC helmet! HECC stands for “hockey equipment certification council” which means the helmet is made to meet a specific standard. Our favorite helmets are @bauerhockey and @ccmhockey !
